Community Liaison / Community Organizer
We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Community Liaison/Community Organizer for a progressive bi-borough New York City Council Member. This person must be energetic with the ability to multi-task. Applicants should have a commitment to good government and social justice as well as a background in community organizing and knowledge of the legislative process.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Serving as the inter-governmental contact to address the need of individual constituents
seeking services from various government agencies
• Maintaining updates concerning documentation and agency responses to inquiries and
requests
• Orchestrating community outreach activities and plan major events
• Drafting correspondence on behalf of the Councilmember
• Conducting research on public policy and legislative issues
• Reports directly to Chief of Staff

Specific job requirements include:

• Bi-Lingual - Spanish is a must
• Bachelor’s Degree and experience in a related field
• Ability to work with a team
• Maintain and track a detailed database
• Outstanding writing and communication skills
• Be on time and the ability to have flexible hours
• Knowledge of Brooklyn and City Government a plus
